Alexander finally looked at the boy on the ground: his feet burned, his knees scratched, his hands damaged.
"What's your name?"
« Lucas. »
"You could have left."
Lucas nodded.
"I know what it's like when no one comes."

He took out a wad of cash. Lucas shook his head.
"I am poor. Not a thief. »

After a long silence, Alexander held out his hand to him.
"Come with us. Not out of pity. Because you did what many would not have done. »

The baby burst out laughing again.
